Delete your account

How to remove your BirdChase account and everything in it, with or without the app.

Last updated: November 6, 2026

You can delete your BirdChase account and all of its data at any time, either in the app or by email.

Quickest way: in the BirdChase app, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account, then tap Delete Forever.

No app? Email support@birdchase.app from your account's email address with the subject "Delete my account". We'll delete it within 30 days.

Delete your account in the app

  1. Open BirdChase and make sure you're signed in.
  2. Go to the Profile tab and tap the gear icon at the top to open Settings.
  3. Scroll down to Account and tap Delete Account.
  4. Read the warning, then tap Delete Forever to confirm.

You'll need an internet connection. Your account and its data are deleted right away, and the app signs you out. Any catches still waiting on that phone to upload are cleared too.

If it doesn't work, check your connection and try again. If it still fails, email us (see below) and we'll delete it for you.

Delete your account without the app

If you've uninstalled BirdChase, or you can't sign in, you can ask us to delete your account by email:

  1. Send an email to support@birdchase.app from the email address on your BirdChase account.
  2. Use the subject "Delete my account".

We may write back to confirm it's really you before we delete anything. We'll delete your account and its data within 30 days.

If you can no longer get into the email address on your account, email us anyway and we'll work out another way to confirm it's you.

What gets deleted

Deleting your account permanently deletes:

  • your account and login (your email address and password);
  • your profile, including your username and avatar;
  • all of your catches, including when and where each one was made;
  • all of your photos;
  • your collection, mastery levels, badges, quests, points, candy and streaks;
  • any feedback you've sent from the app.

What's kept, and for how long

  • Backups: any backup copies of deleted data expire within 30 days.
  • Pictures you shared yourself: if you sent a card, a catch or a photo to someone (for example, on WhatsApp or Instagram), that copy is with them and that app. We can't delete it for you.
  • Your beta sign-up on our website: this is kept separately from your app account, so deleting your account doesn't remove it. See below.

Remove your beta sign-up

If you joined the beta on birdchase.app, we have your email address, which phone you have, the time you signed up, and a one-way hash of your IP address (a scrambled code, not the address itself). We keep it until BirdChase launches plus a short time after.

To remove it sooner, email support@birdchase.app from the address you signed up with and ask us to remove your beta sign-up. We'll also take your email off the app's beta tester list on Google Play.

This can't be undone

Once your account is deleted, we can't bring it back. Your catches, photos and progress are gone for good. If you sign up again later, even with the same email address, you'll start a brand new collection.

Deleting your account doesn't uninstall the app, and uninstalling the app doesn't delete your account. To remove both, delete your account first, then uninstall BirdChase.

Just want to delete some photos?

You don't have to delete your whole account. You can delete any single photo:

  1. Open the photo, either in your album (from the backpack on your Profile) or on that bird's page.
  2. Tap Delete Photo, then tap Delete to confirm.

This permanently removes the photo and that catch's record, including where it was made. It can't be undone.
